Taxonomy Identification: Family, Nymphalidae, First named by Felder in 1861

Colour: The base colour of the topside (recto) wings is black with an orange-yellow bar on the forewing and a blue patch on the hindwing. The underside (verso) forewing is barred in orange, black and pale brown. The verso hindwing is much “busier” with black lines and circles with blue spots.

Size: Wingspan 43-48mm

Comments & Applications: The callicore family contains some of the most beautiful patterns on small delicate butterfly’s of any genre. Commonly known as the numberwing butterflies due to the arrangement of patterns on the verso hindwing
